SUFFOLK, Mass. – Playing in a tri-match hosted by Suffolk University, Women's Volleyball was swept by Endicott College and Suffolk in both of their matches on Saturday afternoon, 3-0, dropping to 2-11 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Endicott College
Falling behind 4-0 in the first set, the Beacons came roaring back with four consecutive points of their own before a back-and-forth battle ensued. Endicott would seemingly take control of the set, rattling off eight of 11 possible points to go ahead by seven, 18-11, before an 8-1 run found UMass Boston back in it. Trailing 23-22, the Beacons were unable to complete the comeback and dropped set one, 25-23.
After taking a 10-8 lead in the second set for the Beacons, a 7-0 run for the Gulls helped them seize set two, 25-17. UMass Boston would respond with a strong showing in the third set, jumping out to an 11-4 lead, before momentum would swing between the two teams. Tied at 23, Endicott finished off the 3-0 sweep with back-to-back kills, handing the Beacons the loss.

Livia Trindade led the way for UMass Boston with 10 kills in the match while senior hitter
Taryn Broughal lurked close behind with seven kills. Freshman hitter
Colbie Atlas recorded a career-high six kills on 13 attempts, good for a .385 attack percentage, her best this season when recording 10-plus attacks.
Suffolk University
Staying out on the floor for their second match immediately after, the Beacons quickly took a 6-1 edge in set one against Suffolk University. But an 8-0 run which included four service aces for the Rams helped them get ahead for good in set one, taking it by a final score of 25-18.
Trailing 9-1 in set two, UMass Boston attempted to claw their way back into the frame but were unable to get within less than four points as Suffolk took the second set by the same score, 25-18. Another early set lead propelled the Rams to the sweep, highlighted by a 5-0 run in the middle of the set, Suffolk held on for the 25-20 set victory after the Beacons rattled off a 5-0 stretch to pull within three, 23-20.

BY THE NUMBERS
- After missing the first 11 matches due to injury, freshman setter Ruby Ackerman made her collegiate debut for the Beacons, appearing in five sets across both matches and recording two kills
- Recording 15 kills on the day, Taryn Broughal led the Beacons with a .367 attack percentage across both matches
- Freshman setter Amelia Devlin ended the day with 18 total assists and her first kill of the season and her collegiate career
- Junior setter Melina Sullivan finished the two matches with a total of three service aces
