BOSTON, Mass. – Playing in their first home match of the 2022 season after two consecutive rainouts, UMass Boston Women's Tennis swept Curry College at BC High Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon, 9-0, to win their 16
th consecutive home match dating back to 2018.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Juniors
Lydia Chan and
Yana Semerly made quick work of sophomore Serena Wilson and freshman Esme Lehner, dropping the first point of the match before roaring back for an 8-1 victory to start off the day in the #1 Doubles.
Freshman
Ayra Shaikh and junior
Meagan Carney won their first six points of the #2 Doubles before dropping a point to sophomores Grace Coopee and Cayla Osowski and then going on to win the match, 8-2.
Following suit with the other two doubles pairs, sophomores
Elena Albano and
Ayonna Stuppard dropped a single point along their way to an 8-1 win over senior Ellen Apotheker and sophomore Samantha Ferrara in the #3 Doubles.
In the singles, Little East Conference Rookie of the Week
Ayra Shaikh defeated Osowski in two sets without dropping a point (6-0, 6-0) in the #3 Singles as did
Elena Albano against Lehner in the #5 Singles (6-0, 6-0).
Yana Semerly (#1 Singles),
Meagan Carney (#4 Singles), and
Ayonna Stuppard (#6 Singles), each dropped just one point across their two set sweeps against senior Sophia Wiernusz (6-1, 6-0), Coopee (6-0, 6-1), and Ferrara (6-0, 6-1) respectively.
Lydia Chan defeated Wilson in the #2 Singles in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-2 to finish off the perfect 9-0 day for the Beacons.
