Men’s Tennis Dominates WestConn in Conference Win

WINCHESTER, Mass. - The UMass Boston men's tennis team remained undefeated in Little East Conference (LEC) play following an 8-1 victory over Western Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon at the Winchester Tennis Club. Seven Beacons were 2-0 on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
UMass Boston's top-double duo of seniors Miguel Beltran (Ashland, Mass.) and Nandish Shah (Ahmedabad, India) posted an 8-4 win over WestConn's and Jay Kilcourse and Kevin Tenesaca to open their day. Beltran went on to defeat Tenesaca 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, while Shah would Sebastian Frisch 6-0, 6-1 at second singles.
 
Junior Alexander Comerchero (Brookline, Mass.) teamed with freshman Rudraksh Trivedi (Gujarat, India) to defeat Frisch and Mitchell Kindred at second doubles, 8-1. Trivedi later posted a shutout victory over Kilcourse at third singles, and Comerchero went on to down Kindred at fourth singles by scores of 6-3, 6-0
 
Beacons' junior Rez Yuspi (Somerville, Mass.) was also a double-winner Saturday. He first teamed with Pierre-Alexandre Fumat (Noumea, New Caledonia) for an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles over Caleb Harris and Jerry Narcisse before notching a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 5 singles against Nicholas Peschier.
 
WestConn's lone win on the day was at No. 6 singles, where Harris defeated sophomore David Malone (Dennis, Mass.) 6-1, 7-5.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
 
The Beacons are back in action next Saturday, when they host Colby-Sawyer College. The non-conference match will begin at 1 p.m. at the BC High School Tennis Courts.
