Men’s Tennis Tames Chargers, 7-2

BOSTON, Mass. - The UMass Boston men's tennis team posted a 7-2 non-conference victory over visiting Colby-Sawyer College Saturday afternoon at the B.C. High Tennis Courts, improving its overall record to 5-3 for the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
The Beacons got off to a fast start, securing two of the three doubles points up for grabs. The No. 2 pairing of senior Alexander Comerchero (Brookline, Mass.) and freshman Rudraksh Trivedi (Gujarat, India) were 8-3 winners over John Turner and Jan Ullmann, while the No. 3 duo of juniors Pierre-Alexandre Fumat (Noumea, New Caledonia) and Rez Yuspi (Somerville, Mass.) rolled to an 8-1 win over Alex Edelmann and Charles Graffius.
 
Trivedi went on to defeat Aiden Jensen 6-0, 6-1 at third singles, while Comerchero was victorious over John Turner at fourth singles 6-1, 6-0. Fumat notched a pair of 6-1 set wins over Edelmann at fifth singles, and Yuspi dispatched Cohl Schusler at sixth singles 6-3, 6-1.
 
Colby-Sawyers top doubles pairing of Julius Lowman and Jensen recorded an 8-3 win over UMass Boston's top pair of seniors Miguel Beltran (Ashland, Mass.) and Nandish Shah (Ahmedabad, India). Shah rebounded to top Ullmann at second singles 6-0, 6-2, while Lowman was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Beltran at first singles.

The Beacons will travel to Castleton Thursday for a 4 p.m. conference match.
