HOW IT HAPPENED
The first game on Wednesday got off to a great start for the Beacons as they tacked on four runs in the top of the first. Lesley countered with a pair of runs to cut UMB's lead in half. However that did not last as UMB put-up a pair of runs in each of the next three innings to earn the run rule victory.
Britney Perkett posted three of the team's eight hits, and had an RBI and two runs scored.
Gabriella Messier went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Brianna Melchionda earned the win and had six strikeouts through four innings of work.
The nightcap started off in favor of UMass Boston as they scored two runs as they looked to close out the regular season with a sweep. Unfortunately, the host Lynx came roaring back scoring six runs in the bottom half of the inning to take their first lead of the night. They then plated two runs in the second and one in third, but it was the six-run fourth that clinched the victory for Lesley.
Haley Tilberry was the lone Beacon to record multiple hits, which included a double.
Hayley Catania was handed the loss after allowing nine runs, three earned, on nine hits through 2.2 innings of work.
