HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers late inning heroics canceled out a four-run top of the ninth which put the Beacons ahead 12-9 at the time.

Jackson Curtis drove in the game-tying and game-winning run when he singled up the middle off of Josh Eastman who was handed his first loss of the season.

Tuesday's contest was a back-and-forth affair from the bottom of the first inning. The Panthers tacked on the first run of the day in the opening frame. UMass Boston tacked on a pair of runs in the second and three more in the third to take a 5-1 lead. Plymouth State cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the third, before retaking the lead with a four-run fourth.

UMass Boston tied the game in the seventh with three runs, but it was Plymouth State who retook the lead in the eighth as they plated just one run.

In the ninth, Aidan Blake emptied the bases with a triple, while Craig Corliss plated his teammate on a sac-fly to right field.

Back-to-back bases loaded walks cut the Beacons lead to one (12-11), setting up the game-winning hit by Curtis.

Blake finished the day 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Gianni Zarilli, Jr. went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Thomas Cue accounted for three of the Beacons runs as he went 2-for-5 on the afternoon.
