RUTLAND, Vt. - The UMass Boston men's tennis team resumed the conference portion of its schedule with an 8-1 Little East Conference win at Castleton University Thursday. The Beacons did not yield a single point in five of their eight matchups won.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Seniors
Miguel Beltran (Ashland, Mass.) and
Nandish Shah (Ahmedabad, India) combined to post three shutout victories on the day, first teaming for an 8-0 win at first doubles over Dante Buttino and Phil Kluge. Beltran then posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kluge at first singles, while Shah was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Connor Davis at second singles.
UMass Boston's second doubles pair of senior
Alexander Comerchero (Brookline, Mass.) and junior
Pierre-Alexandre Fumat (Noumea, New Caledonia) did not yield a point to Castleton's pairing of Davis and Jason Lipscomb. Comerchero went on to beat Buttino 6-0, 6-2 at third singles. Fumat nearly posted his second shutout of the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Lipscomb at fourth singles.
Freshman
Rez Yuspi (Somerville, Mass.) was also a double-winner today. He teamed with sophomore
David Malone (Dennis, Mass.) for an 8-0 third doubles win over Miguel Almirall and Rowan Kidder, and later defeated Slmirall 6-4, 6-0 at fifth singles.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Beacons will next travel to Rhode Island College Saturday for a 1 p.m. conference match. UMass Boston and RIC are tied for first atop the LEC standings, and are the last two remaining unbeaten teams in conference play.
