BRIDGEWARTER, Mass. - The UMass Boston men's tennis team notched a shutout victory at Bridgewater State University Saturday, which was the Little East Conference (LEC) opener for both squads.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The third doubles pair of juniors
Pierre-Alexandre Fumat (Noumea, New Caledonia) and
Rez Yuspi (Somerville, Mass.) got things going with a shutout victory over Darius Desnoes and Robert Dwyer, just before UMass Boston's second doubles pair of senior
Alexander Comerchero (Brookline, Mass.) and freshman
Rudraksh Trivedi (Gujarat, India) took care of Sean Nutter and Kendan Ziegler, 8-1.
Doubles play concluded with the Beacons' top tandem of seniors
Miguel Beltran (Ashland, Mass.) and
Nandish Shah (Ahmedabad, India) posting an 8-2 victory over Colin Lamusta and Jeff Pavao.
Fumat went on to defeat Dwyer 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to put UMass Boston within one point of victory. Yuspi then delivered the match-clinching fifth point with his 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Desnoes at No. 6 singles.
Beltran would defeat Pavao 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Shah and Trivedi were just one point away from registering shutout singles victories. Shah was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Lamusta at No. 2, while Trivedi was a 6-0, 6-1 winner against Nutter at No. 4. Comerchero capped the match with a straight sets win at No. 3 over Ziegler, grinding out a 7-7 (7-2) win in the first set before taking the second 6-2.
