Lacrosse Cruises To Conference Win At USM

Beacons win 11th-straight regular season LEC contest with 21-9 win over the Huskies

GORHAM, Maine - Michael Claflin's career-best 13 points lifted the lacrosse to their 11th straight regular season Little East Conference win as they defeated the University of Southern Maine by the final of 21-9 Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons opened their fifth double-digit victory of the 2022 season with a six-goal first quarter which included a hat trick from Donovan Prozinski. Two of Prozinski's goals came from Michael Claflin who would go on to post six goals to go with seven assists to extend his team-leading points total to 63.
 
Jacob Banks and Darragh Fahey would each add three goals of their own, helping the Beacons surpass 20 goals for the third time in their six conference matchups.
 
Goalie Trevor Koppy kept things even in the net, recording nine saves to nine goals allowed while playing the entire game between the pipes.
 
Patrick Carey and Elijiah Beasley led the way defensively, each causing a pair of turnovers.
 
BY THE NUMBERS:
  • The Beacons outshot the huskies 63 to 27 while scooping 46 ground balls compared to 28 for USM
  • The Beacons went 14 for 31 at the faceoff X
  • Claflin's seven assists tied a season high for any UMB player
  • Carey's two caused turnovers give him a team-leading 17 on the season
  • The Beacons are now 8-5 all-time against the Huskies, winning the last three matchups
  • The 12-point victory was the largest winning margin in the series' history
