Lacrosse Doubles-Up Lasell For Third Straight Win

Beacons start the year 3-0 for the third straight season

Boston, M.A. - Eight total points from Gavin Admirand led lacrosse to their 17th straight regular season win as they cruised past Lasell University 16-8 Tuesday afternoon at James Cotter Field.

THE BASICS
UMass Boston 16, Lasell University 8

UMass Boston (3-0)
Lasell University (0-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Beacons continued their hot start to the '22 season behind five goals and three assists from Admirand, both of which were game highs.

Michael Claflin joined in on the scoring barrage netting four goals and assisting on two.

UMass Boston spread the scoring out evenly, scoring five goals in the first quarter, three in the second and four over the final two frames.

Lasell's big second and fourth quarters could not make up for a single combined goal between the first and third.

The Beacons benefited from streaky offensive sequences, the most notable of which produced three goals in less than two minutes.

The offensive attack was enabled by the Beacons' face-off specialists, who won a combined 23 out of 28 face-offs. Jack Dobrzynski finished the afternoon 17-for-21 on the "X" and also had a game-high 10 GB's.

Trevor Koppy recorded 11 saves against just six goals allowed in his third win of the season. Patrick Colburn paced the Beacons defense with three caused turnovers to go along with a pair of ground balls.

Defensively the Beacons recorded a season-high 12 CT's, while also forcing a combined 21 Lasell turnovers.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • UMass Boston recovered ground balls at over twice the rate Lasell did, scooping up 37 compared to 18 for the Lasers
