BOSTON, Mass. – An Octavio Brito lay-up with two ticks left on the clock lifted Keene State College to a 99-97 overtime win over men's basketball Saturday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium on senior day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing by seven points with just over 40 seconds left to play in the overtime, the Beacons erased the deficit in the blink of an eye thanks to an 8-0 run to make it 97-97 with just over 10 seconds left. Scoring the than tying basketball was
Shawn Goss, who stepped onto the court in the final minute of the contest.
Unfortunately, on the next possession Keene State would sprint up the floor and caught the Beacons in transition to score the uncontested lay-up securing the victory.
After a rocky first half for UMB, the Beacons battled for all 20 minutes of the second half as the two rivals exchanged control of the scoreboard. Down the final stretch, Keene State tried to escape with the win, but the Beacons would respond every time with Charles and
Charlie Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) and
Malik Lorquet (Sharon, Mass.) all scoring over the final minutes. A 2-for-2 showing by Lorquet at the line, gave the Beacons 79-78 lead with just over 20 seconds left.
Nate Siow tied the game after 1-for-2 at charity stripe. On the final possession of regulation,
Charles Mitchell had a chance to give the Beacons the win, but his shot was blocked away by Octavio Brito to force the OT.
Charles Mitchell led all players with 28 points on an 11-for-25 day, which included two 3-pointers. Lorquet finished with 22 points and five blocked shots, while
Charlie Mitchell added 17 points.
Siow posted an impressive triple-double with 11 assists, 17 points, and 14 rebounds. Brito had a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds. Mason Jean Baptiste led the Owls with 24 points on 8-of-14, which included four 3-pointers.

WHO'S NEXT
The Beacons who are the seventh-seed in the LEC Tournament will travel to Eastern Connecticut State University, who is the two-seed on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. quarterfinal round game.
