Hip Hip Haynes! Women's Soccer Advances to LEC Semifinals with Shutout Win Versus Keene State

BOSTON, Mass.  – Senior forward Kaylee Haynes scored two goals in the opening 20 minutes of the match as UMass Boston Women's Soccer rolled to a 4-0 win over Keene State at home in the Little East Conference Semifinals on Tuesday afternoon.

THE BASICS

UMass Boston 4, Keene State 0

UMass Boston (9-8-2)

Keene State (10-9-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Attacking early and often, UMass Boston recorded two shots against freshman goalkeeper Sonia Moritz before Haynes netted her first goal of the afternoon when she fired from the left side of the pitch and the ball hit the crossbar before falling behind the line in the 11th minute to give the Beacons a 1-0 lead.

Just eight minutes later, Haynes tallied her second goal of the contest, receiving two passes on the right side from sophomore midfielder Caroline Golt and freshman midfielder Callia Eaton. The senior forward headed the ball towards the left side of the goal mouth as it bounced past Moritz in net for the second Beacon goal of the afternoon.

Extending their lead late in the second half, junior defender Caileigh Sullivan found graduate forward Lindsay Bouscaren in the box who slipped the ball into the left side of the goal past Moritz in the splits, giving UMass Boston a 3-0 lead in the 74th minute of the match.

An own goal by Keene State in the 76th minute off a Sullivan corner kick would give UMass Boston a 4-0 advantage and the eventual victory to move on to the Little East Conference Semifinals.
