BOSTON, Mass. – An unprecedented season of records continued for the UMass Boston Women's Tennis team on Thursday afternoon against Castleton University. Earning their fifth sweep of the season, 9-0, the Beacons tied the single-season record for most sweeps in a year at five and extended their home winning streak to 20 consecutive matches dating back to 2018.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The junior duo of
Lydia Chan and
Yana Semerly continue to dominate on the court together as a #1 Doubles team, winning 8-0 over senior duo Regina Marchese and Makayla Boisvert to kick off the afternoon.
Sophomore duo
Elena Albano and
Ayonna Stuppard remained undefeated as a double's duo in the #2 Doubles as they took down freshman Stella Forte and senior Megan Brier, 8-2, to move to 5-0 on the season as a pairing.
Senior
Lia Vassiliadis and freshman
Ayra Shaikh teamed up in the #3 Doubles again, winning in convincing fashion, 8-3, over freshman Madelyn Nonni and junior Camille Jackson to give the Beacons a 3-0 lead after doubles.
Capping off an impressive performance to her day, Albano swept through Brier, 6-0, in two sets of the #3 Singles to move to 2-0 on the day and 6-1 on the year in singles play.
Finishing soon after her, Shaikh took her #2 Singles match against Boisvert with ease, 6-1 and 6-0, helping UMass Boston clinch the team victory with five wins already.
The sweep would be rounded out by Vassiliadis defeating Nonni 6-2 and 6-0 in the #5 Singles, Semerly taking down Marchese 6-1 and 6-0 in the #1 Singles, Stuppard over Forte in the #4 Singles 6-0 and 6-3, and junior
Skylar Robles closing out the day with back-to-back 6-4 set victories to give the Beacons the 9-0 victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
- As the #1 for both Singles and Doubles this year, Yana Semerly has pieced together a perfect start to her season as well, going 5-0 in both the Singles and Doubles

The Beacons hit the road for another Little East Conference matchup with UMass Dartmouth scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM. The Corsairs are currently 4-0 in LEC play with a matchup against Bridgewater State University the day before facing the Beacons.
