Corsairs Sink Volleyball In Little East Play

Beacons fell to intra-state rival UMass Dartmouth, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. – Devon Laing's 12 kills lifted UMass Dartmouth past volleyball as the visiting Corsairs handed the Beacons a 3-0 Little East Conference loss Wednesday evening in the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Corsairs offense, which was fueled by Laing, hit .220 on the night. They narrowly slipped past the Beacons in the first set as they took a 25-23 victory. They then registered their best set of the evening in the second as they hit .333 to earn a 25-16 decision. The Beacons looking to force extra frames, came out firing in the third. They unfortunately could not maintain that early momentum, as UMD managed to rally and eventually earned the 25-20 decision to seal the conference victory.

On the night Lain, hit a team-leading .296 scoring her 12 kills on 27 attempts. Kate Wade finished with 10 kills. Sabrina Bordone and Emma Rousseau combined for 31 assists respectively.

Emily Pogorelec anchored the Corsairs back line with 21 digs.

For the Beacons, Taryn Broughal led UMB with nine kills and a .304 clip. Amelia Devlin put-up 20 assists, while Toni Guerra, Ally Dean, and McKayla Geraghty reach recorded 10 digs.

Broughal and Devlin each finished with three block assists.
