Women’s Hockey Falls At No. 3 Elmira

Katie Leffler had the lone goal for the Beacons in the 4-1 loss

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – A pair of second period goals and one in the third lifted third-ranked Elmira College to a 4-1 win over women's ice hockey Friday evening at the Murray Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Katie Leffler (Key Largo, Fla.) tied the game at 1-1 early in the second period with Ana Gustafson (Clarkston, Mich.) picking-up the assist. Unfortunately, the tied score would last for just 40 seconds, as Sydney Harris scored her second goal of the contest to make a 2-1 lead in favor of EC.

They would then take a two goal lead with 45 ticks left on the scoreboard with Claire Meeder finding the back of the net.

Elmira would then seal the win late in the third on a shorthanded goal from Emma Crocker.

Victoria Kennedy (Winthrop, Mass.) was solid throughout Friday's contest as she mad 37 stops, including 14 in the second.

Rachael Burum (Marshfield, Mass.) led the Beacons with 15 face-off wins.
