DANBURY, Conn. – Despite a late push in the final minutes of regulation, men's basketball could not keep their win-streak alive as WestConn defeated the Beacons by the final of 60-51 Wednesday evening at WCSU Athletic Complex.
THE BASICS
UMass Boston 51, WestConn 60
UMass Boston (8-9, 4-5 Little East Conference)
WestConn (10-7, 4-5 Little East Conference)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tommy Burris (Dalton, Mass.) was the lone Beacon to finish in double-figures as the junior guard dropped in 15 points.
The Beacons, who were looking to earn their first four-game win-streak, never led in Wednesday's game. WestConn managed to hold a slim lead for the majority of the contest to hand the Beacons their first loss since last Monday.
Matthew Turner finished with 15 points, while Wes Nelson finished second with 14 points.
The Beacons offense shot 37.0% from the field, while holding WestConn to just 29.0%.
The difference maker for WestConn was the 10-point lead they went into the break with. UMass Boston outscored WestConn in the second half 29-28, but it was not enough to earn the win.
