Men's Basketball Wins Third Straight

Beacons down Castleton 48-38 to earn their third straight LEC victory



BOSTON, Mass. – Led by Charles Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) and Malik Brooms (Roxbury, Mass.) 11 points each men's basketball earned a hard fought 48-38 Little East Conference win over Castleton University Monday evening at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Playing their fourth game in the last seven days, the Beacons grinded-out the conference win to earn their third straight victory.

Brooms had one of his best days on the hardwood as he finished 4-for-8 with three 3-pointers in just 15 minutes of action.

Malik Lorquet (Sharon, Mass.) continued his strong defensive play with three of the Beacons five blocked shots, while also coming up with four steals. He also dropped in nine points and had seven boards.

Oluwadare Sowunmi led all players with 12 points, and had a team-high eight boards.

The 38 points allowed by Castleton were the fewest by an opponent since November 14, 2019 when UMB held Eastern Nazarene College to just 37 points.

  • Lorquet now sits with 50 blocks on the year which has him tied for sixth in program history
  • He now sits 19 blocks away from tying the all-time record of 159 set by Terry Kennedy in 1991
