Volleyball Blanks Huskies For First Conference Win

Tiscareno and Czapiewska paced the Beacons to the 3-0 victory



BOSTON, Mass. – Emilia Czapiewska (Saint Paul, Minn.) and Marcelle Tiscareno (El Paso, Texas) each scored a match-high 12 kills to lift volleyball to a 3-0 Little East Conference win over the University of Southern Maine Wednesday evening at the Clark Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

For the first two sets in Wednesday's contest, the Beacons dominated the momentum. They clinched a 25-20 win in the first set, before blowing past USM in the second on their way to a 25-13 victory. The third and potentially match-winning set was a back-and-forth affair. UMass Boston clinched the crucial conference win thanks to a four-point run, capped-off by a Czapiewska kill.

For Tiscareno she also ended the night a .421 hitting percentage, while Czapiewska registered a .357 mark. Taryn Broughal (Branford, Conn.) was solid at the net all night, as she registered six kills.

At the net the trio combined for five block assists and two solo blocks respectively.

Carsen Komminsk (Worthington, Ohio) tallied 36 assists and a pair of aces.

In the back row Ally Dean (Portland, Ore.) notched a career-best 23 digs in the victory.
