BOSTON, Mass.—Four different players scored to help UMass Boston women's soccer blow past visiting University of Southern Maine 4-0 on Wednesday night at James Cotter Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons snapped their three-game winless streak behind one of their best offensive performances of the season.
Senior midfielder
Allie Crawford (Kingston, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season and added an assist on a record-setting night. She set the program record for career assists with her 32
nd career helper in the 27
th minute.
Fellow seniors
Grace Oliver (Rockland, Mass.),
Morgan Palma (Halifax, Mass.) and
Dani Anderson (St. Augustine, Fla.) also scored in the victory.
Senior left back
Mary Jo Murphy (Worcester, Mass.) paced the Beacons with a pair of assists in the win.
In net, junior goalie
Maria Spylios (Leominster, Mass.) made four saves in her first complete-game shutout of the season.
Southern Maine's Bre Atwood made five saves on nine shots in the loss.
The Beacons opened the scoring in the 17
th minute. Freshman
Maggie Kelley (Paxton, Mass.) found a wide-open Oliver at the top of the box and Oliver sent a left-footed shot to the back post for a 1-0 advantage at 16:15.
UMass Boston doubled the lead at 26:13. Murphy slid a thru ball past the defense to Crawford who immediately centered the ball to Palma. The senior slid a shot just inside the near post for a 2-0 lead and to help Crawford set the program record.
Crawford extended the Beacons' advantage at 81:32. Murphy found her in space at the top of the box and Crawford slid the ball inside the far post for a 3-0 lead.
The Beacons closed out the scoring in the 87
th minute (86:31). Atwood made an initial save on Oliver's shot but the rebound fell loose in the box. Palma followed up on the rebound and won a foot race with Atwood, before the keeper grabbed Palma's foot as she went for the ball. After the referee blew the whistle for a penalty kick, Anderson stepped up to the spot and calmly deposited the ball in the side netting.
BY THE NUMBERS
- UMass Boston outshot the Huskies 14-10 and led 9-4 in shots on goal. The Beacons also held a 5-2 lead in corner kicks.
- With the win, UMass Boston has now two in a row against the Huskies and 13 of the past 14 meetings.
- Crawford not only set the program record for career assists (32) but also moved into a tie for sixth-place in program history with 49 career points.
- The Beacons penalty kick was their first since the 2019 LEC Championship Game and their first in a regular-season game since October 20, 2018 against Rhode Island College.
