Volleyball Drops Conference Match To Plymouth State

Panthers hand the Beacons a 3-0 LEC loss

BOSTON, Mass. – The duo of Emilee Flanagan and Nora Ryan lifted Plymouth State University to a 3-0 Little East Conference win over volleyball Saturday afternoon at Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The two rivals exchanged points throughout the first frame, but it was the Panthers who would claw past the Beacons thanks to a 9-0 run to earn the 25-18 decision. The second stanza was a tight one from the opening serve. A small 3-0 run by PSU proved to be the deciding factor as they earned a 25-21 victory. The final set saw Plymouth State come out firing on all cylinders. UMB tried to keep it close, however PSU claimed the victory on a Ryan kill.

Ryan led the Panthers with a .421 hitting percentage. Marcelle Tiscareno (El Paso, Texas) matched the Panthers duo with 10 kills of-her-own. The senior middle also hit .227 in the loss. Carsen Komminsk (Worthington, Ohio) collected 24 aces, while Ally Dean (Portland, Ore.) and Alyssa Ruan (Quincy, Mass.) combined for 30 digs respectively.

Marissa Plaza anchored the Panthers defensive effort with 20 digs, while at the net the Panthers combined for two solo blocks and two block assists. Alexa Prince led the offense with 34 assists, and had three aces.
