BOSTON, Mass. – In their best match of the 2021 season, volleyball earned a hard-fought five-set victory over Johnson and Wales University Tuesday evening at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Leading 14-13 in the fifth set, UMB closed the door on the Wildcats thanks to a thunderous kill by
Marcelle Tiscareno (El Paso, Texas). Setting-up the back-and-forth deciding set, UMB rallied from a 1-0 deficit with a 25-18 win in the second and a 25-19 win in the third. JWU evened the score at 25-15 in the fourth.
Tiscareno's night consisted of 13 kills and a .281 hitting percentage, while
Emilia Czapiewska (Saint Paul, Minn.) also registered 13 put downs, and led the match with a .290 clip.
Aleks Qose (Athens, Greece) was the third Beacon to finish in double-figures as she registered 11 kills.
Carsen Komminsk (Worthington, Ohio) tallied 34 assists, and a pair of aces.
Taryn Broughal (Stamford, Conn.) had a career-best seven aces to help the offense, while defensively she posted three block solos and two block assists.
Tiscareno was a wall as she scored six block solos and a block assist.
Ally Dean had a career-night for the Beacons defense with her 20 digs, with Komminsk tallying 11 digs to complete a solid double-double for the senior.
On the night both teams hit .092, with the Beacons scoring a combined 16 aces.
Peyton Oliver led the Wildcats with 14 kills, and had two solo blocks and three block assists.
