HOW IT HAPPENED
The Black Coaches Classic was established by UMB head coach
Jason Harris as away to bring about change in college basketball. Currently there are only seven Division III men's basketball programs in the state of Massachusetts that are led by black head coaches. This year's BCC featured four of those programs in Lesley University, Tufts University, Brandeis University, and UMB. The one-day invitational also featured two all black officiating crews.
On the night, Eastman finished just 3-for-10 from the field, with a pair of 3-pointers. He did a majority of his damage at the free throw line as he went 13-for-18. Five of his 14 rebounds came on the offensive glass.
Charles Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) led the Beacons with 17 points on 7-of-19 shooting, which featured two 3-pointers.
Malik Lorquet (Sharon, Mass.) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and had eight points, and a career-high six blocks.
Charlie Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) finished with 12 points, while
Stephen DiGregorio (Marlborough, Mass.) added 10 in the non-conference loss.
