BOSTON, Mass. – The Beacons cruised to a 3-0 win over Castleton University to close out their regular season and earn the number two-seed in the Little East Conference Tournament as they honored their senior members Saturday afternoon at Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Castleton University, despite not having a conference win to their name all season, tried to spoil the Beacons big day. However, the Beacons did not allow that to happen as they registered a 25-18 win in the first set. They then took a 25-17 win in the second, and a 25-14 in the third.
Prior to the start of the match, the Beacons honored their five senior members in
Jill Francis (Colorado Springs, Colo.),
Emilia Czapiewska (Saint Paul, Minn.),
Carsen Komminsk (Worthington, Ohio),
Marcelle Tiscareno (El Paso, Texas), and
Kelsey Pereira (Acushnet, Mass.).
It was actually junior
Taryn Broughal (Branford, Conn.) who was the driving force for the Beacons offense as she scored 11 kills, while notching a .643 hitting percentage. Tiscareno finished with 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the one-sided victory.
Komminsk put-up 31 assists to lead the Beacons offense.
Ally Dean (Portland, Ore.) finished the win with 11 digs and 13 service receptions.
Aleks Qose (Athens, Greece) put down seven kills and hit .500, and also had 10 digs, four aces, and three service receptions.
Pereira dropped in a career-high eight kills in her final regular season home contest as a Beacon.
BY THE NUMBERS
- All-time the Beacons are now 3-0 against Castleton, winning all three matches in straight sets
- UMB hit .338 in the victory and had 14 service aces
- Komminsk's 31 assists marked the 10th straight match that the senior recorded 30 or more assists in a match

The Beacons will host the winner of Tuesday's LEC Quarterfinal match between #3 Keene State College and #6 UMass Dartmouth. Thursday's semi-final match will start at 7 p.m. in Clark Gymnasium.
