DARTMOUTH, Mass.—UMass Boston volleyball hit over .300 for the second time this season to easily sweep host UMass Dartmouth 3-0 on Wednesday night at the Tripp Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Three Beacons finished with seven or more kills and hit over .400 to help UMass Boston snap a three-match losing streak.
UMass Boston jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the first set and never let the Corsairs get closer than five points the rest of the way in a 25-17 set victory.
The second set was far closer with the Beacons earning their largest lead of the set early on at 9-4 early on. UMass Dartmouth kept it close until the Beacons went on a 6-2 run (22-16) behind kills from
Livia Trindade (São Luís, Maranhão, Brazil),
Aleks Qose (Athens, Greece),
Marcelle Tiscareno (El Paso, Texas) and
Carsen Komminsk (Worthington, Ohio). UMass Boston officially made it a 2-0 lead when
McKayla Geraghty (Elgin, Ill.) recorded an ace to close out the set (25-20).
The Corsairs kept it close with UMass Boston through the first 18 points (10-8 UMB), before Geraghty led the Beacons on a 5-0 run to make it 15-8. The Beacons closed it out on an Emilia Czapiewksa (Saint Paul, Minn.) kill to make it 25-19 in the third set.
Czapiewska paced the Beacons with a team-high 10 kills on just 15 swings (.533 hitting percentage)). The graduate student also added two blocks and two digs. Tiscareno finished second with nine kills (.412 hitting percentage) and
Taryn Broughal (Branford, Conn.) chipped in with seven kills (.455 hitting percentage), two aces, two blocks and one dig.
Komminsk notched 33 assists and was one of five Beacons to record two aces in the win. Freshman libero
Ally Dean (Portland, Ore.) led the Beacons with 13 digs in the victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
- UMass Boston led the Corsairs in every statistical category including hitting .301 for the match. The only time the Beacons had hit over .300 prior to Wednesday's match was in a 3-0 win over Emmanuel College on September 23.
- The Beacons has now won 13 of the past 14 contests against their intra-state rival.
- With the win, UMass Boston moves into sixth-place in the LEC standings with three matches to play. The top six teams qualify for the LEC Tournament.
- Komminsk recorded a career-best four kills in the win.
WHO'S NEXT
UMass Boston will host Keene State College on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a rematch of the 2019 LEC Quarterfinals. The Beacons will be hosting their Hodgkin's Lymphoma Awareness Game to support one of their fellow student-athletes.
