DARTMOUTH, Mass. – In their final match of the 2017 regular season, women's tennis was handed a 6-3 conference loss by intra-state rival UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at the Dartmouth Indoor Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Less than 24-hours after securing their spot in the Little East Conference Tournament the Beacons had to face a tough opponent in the Corsairs in their regular season finale.
Battling through injury the Beacons put-up a valiant effort, but the Corsairs managed to earn the conference victory as they head into next week's tournament as the second-seed.
Collecting the only win for the Beacons in doubles play was Kristy Garcia (Miami, Fla.) and Katie Gauthier (West Boylston, Mass.). The duo earned a solid 8-3 win over the Corsairs top singles pair of Jenna Lahaie and Jaime Fastino.
In singles play, Garcia and Lahaie went the distance as they went to a super tiebreaker. Lahaie would earn the victory 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7). Kathleen Conroy (Quincy, Mass.) collected her second singles win of the week, as she registered a 6-4, 6-3 win at second flight. Gauthier owned the third Beacons win, as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 win at third flight.
BY THE NUMBERS
- With her win at second singles, Conroy is now 1-1 on the year, while at third singles she leads the team with a 5-3 record
- Gauthier improved to 6-4 on the year, 5-3 in Little East play with Saturday's win
- Garcia and Gauthier remain one of the top doubles teams in the Little East boasting a 7-1 conference mark and an 8-2 overall record at first flight.
WHO'S NEXT
The Beacons will be in action on Tuesday when they travel to the third-seeded Bears of Bridgewater State University. The start time of that match will be announced this weekend.
