BOSTON, Mass.—Little East Conference preseason favorite Rhode Island College earned their seventh-straight victory with a 9-0 sweep over UMass Boston women's tennis.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Anchorwomen swept doubles and won each of the first five singles points decisively, en-route to their fourth-straight conference win to start the season.
UMass Boston junior captain Kelsey Shea (West Bridgewater, Mass.) nearly posted a point for UMass Boston, as she fought through two lengthy sets and a super tiebreaker in the third set. The junior took the first set 7-5, before falling 6-4 in the second. She went back-and-forth with Jorgie Martin in the tiebreaker, before Martin eventually captured an 11-9 third-set win.
Rhode Island College won at second and third doubles by identical 8-3 scores, while the Beacons' first doubles team put up a much tougher fight. The combo of Kristy Garcia (Miami, Fla.) and Logan Smith (Southwick, Mass.) stayed close with Julie Reddy and Dayna Reilly, before falling 8-6 at number one doubles.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Rhode Island College improved to 4-0 in Little East Conference play and the Anchorwomen have outscored their opponents 33-3 during those four matches.
- Saturday's match marked the Beacons' first 9-0 loss since Opening Day
- Senior Nurcin Celebi (Istanbul, Turkey) fell to 4-2 on the season at third singles, as she saw her four-match singles winning streak come to a close.
