Women's Tennis Suffers 8-1 Setback at Bridgewater State

Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Looking to pick-up a huge conference win, women's tennis (5-6, 2-3 LEC) faced off against the Bears of Bridgewater State University (8-1, 5-0 LEC), unfortunately the Bears remained perfect in Little East Conference play as they defeated the Beacons by the final score of 8-1 Friday afternoon at Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

Pulling out the lone Beacon victory, her 10th of the year, and ninth straight, was Hieu Nguyen (Dorchester, MA) as she defeated Rachael Eramo 6-4, 6-2 at fifth singles.

Bridgewater jumped out to an early 3-0 lead following doubles play.  Wendy Steinman (Dudley, MA) and Katelyn Hazirjian (Sturbridge, MA) had the toughest of the three matches as they nearly pulled the win before dropping a close 8-6 decision.

In singles play, Bridgewater continued to roll before dropping the last match of the day, with Nguyen pulling out the win at fifth singles.

Women's tennis returns to action on Tuesday when they host Worcester State University at 3 p.m. in a Little East Conference match.
