Mary Matthews (Wilsonville, Ore.) shined in the Beacons' softball team's season finale on the road against the Eastern connecticut State Warriors, to put a ribbon on a stellar breakout year for the first-year outfielder. In both games, she combined for four hits in six at-bats, with three RBIs including two doubles (one in both games), bringing her season totals to 40 hits including a tied team-high 23 in conference play. Overall, she leads the team this season with five triples, and has tallied 17 stolen bases in as many attempts for a stellar step into the fray for the Beacons' softball team, as they enter their seventh Little East Conference Postseason Tournament in the passed eight seasons.Â
