Bri Melchionda returns to her alma mater for her first season as an assistant coach in 2026.
Melchionda was an ace pitcher for UMass Boston during her five seasons (2021-2025), finishing out her career by co-captaining the Beacons to their third Little East Conference Tournament Championship. As a senior, she was named LEC All-Conference First Team in the circle, LEC Pitcher of the Year, and earned NFCA DIII Region II First Team All-Region. Within her final campaign, she was named Player of the Year and Second Team All-Conference honoree in the circle for the LEC. Melchionda etched her name into the record books, becoming the first Beacon in program history to earn NFCA Division III All-American honors, as well as All-American Academic honors.
Melchionda sits on top of many statistical categories for the Beacons. She sits first for season ERA (1.05 - 2024), career ERA (1.78), career strikeouts (556), lowest opposing batting average (.202), along with many others. The lefty hitter concluded her career with an overall .386 batting average, racking up 91 RBI’s, 38 doubles, and 6 home runs in her career.
She graduated from UMass Boston in 2025, receiving her degree in Exercise and Health Sciences.
