Alyssa Wohlfeiler joins the UMass Boston women’s ice hockey coaching staff for the 2015-16 season.

Currently a member of the Connecticut Whales of the professional National Women’s Hockey League, Wohlfeiler was a former teammate with interim head coach Lindsay Berman at Division I Northeastern University.

While with the Huskies, Wohlfeiler was named a 2008-09 Hockey East All-Academic Team honoree, as received the team’s Most Valuable Player award in 2011.  It was also in the 2010-11 season that she served as team captain.

During her standout career in Boston, Wohlfeiler appeared in a combined 133 games, and registered 32 goals and 39 assists for 71 career points.  In her senior season, she helped the Huskies to the Hockey East Championship game, while as a junior she led Northeastern to the championship game of the Beanpot.

After graduating from NU, Wohlfeiler played three seasons with the Boston Blades of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.  She also played professionally in Switzerland for HC Lugano, where he she helped to the team a national championship in 2015.
