Alexandra Karlis ‘16 is in her second season as the assistant women’s ice hockey coach at UMass Boston.

Karlis returned to her alma mater, after leading the Beacons to their first-ever NEHC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016.  

During her four seasons on the harbor campus, Karlis appeared in 98 career games, and had 11 goals and 25 assists.  She ended her time in a Beacons jersey with a +9 rating, and owned three power-play goals during her long career. 

Karlis’ 29 games played during the Beacons run to their first NCAA Tournament appearance is tied for the most in single season history at UMB.  Her 21 points during her senior season is fifth most in program history, while her 16 assists as a senior has her tied for second.

A native of Denver, Colorado, Karlis graduated from UMass Boston with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
