Omar Castro-Dreher joins the men's soccer coaching staff for his first season in 2021.
Castro-Dreher joins his former program after putting together the most decorated career by a UMass Boston goalkeeper. During the course of his four seasons, he set the program record for career games played (66), starts (64), wins (36), shutouts (26) and goals against average (0.85). He also set the single-season records in goals against average (0.62 in 2019), shutouts (8 in 2019), wins (13 in 2016) and minutes played by a goalie (1,743 in 2018).
Over the course of his four seasons, Castro-Dreher served as the starting goalie or shared the starting duties in all four seasons. As a freshman, he was the team's starting goalie for all three NCAA Tournament games, including earning a 3-0 shutout win over Kean University in the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament win. The following day, Castro-Dreher made a season-high 11 saves in regulation and overtime and then stopped two of the four penalty shots he faced to lead the Beacons past host Haverford College in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
