Richard Mahoney is now in his fourth season at UMass Boston.

A prominent name in NCAA Division 1, Mahoney brings over 30 years of experience to the Beacons cross country and track and field programs. The former head coach of the Boston College women's cross country team, Mahoney has been named the NCAA District 1 Coach of the Year, Big East Coach of the Year, and led the Eagles to three Big East Cross Country championships.  A longtime name at Milton High School, Mahoney guided his squads to five league and three state championships.
