Kellie Stigas is the Head Field Hockey Coach at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where she leads the launch of the university’s first-ever field hockey program. Appointed in 2025, she brings seven seasons of NCAA Division I coaching experience and a strong reputation for player development, recruiting, and program-building across New England’s collegiate landscape.
Before joining UMass Boston, Stigas served in key coaching roles at Providence College, Northeastern University, UMass Lowell, and UMass Amherst. At Providence College, she was the program’s lead recruiter, directing both domestic and international recruiting efforts while advancing athlete development through video analysis and performance technology. Her tenure at Northeastern included leading defensive strategy and contributing to one of the nation’s top-ranked recruiting classes. Her work within the UMass system at Lowell and Amherst further deepened her understanding of the university’s athletic mission and student-athlete experience.
A former standout student-athlete herself, Stigas captained the Northeastern University field hockey team and earned NFHCA Academic All-American honors five times—an achievement reflecting her commitment to academic and athletic excellence. She holds a USA Field Hockey Level 3 Coaching Accreditation and remains closely connected to the sport through the USA Field Hockey Nexus Program and the youth clinics she leads throughout Massachusetts.
Known for her energetic leadership style and holistic approach to athlete development, Stigas is dedicated to building a program grounded in pride, purpose, and community. She is poised to guide UMass Boston Field Hockey into its inaugural competitive season in Fall 2026 and to establish a culture of integrity, growth, and long-term success for the Beacon student-athletes she leads.
