Former Beacon and 2019 ABCA National Position Player of the Year Nick Herzog '19 returns to the Beacons as an assistant coach for the 2020 season.

One of the most decorated players in program history, Herzog will work primarily with the outfielders after playing minor league baseball following his graduation from the harbor campus.

During his unprecedented four year career, Herzog was a three-time Little East Conference Tournament champion, a 2016 and 2018 LEC Regular Season Champion, a 2017 and 2019 NCAA Regional Champion, a 2019 NCAA Super Regional Champion, and a 2017 and 2019 College World Series participant.

A 2019 Little East Conference First Team honoree, Herzog was named an ABCA first Team All-American as a senior and also garnered Second Team All-America honors from D3Baseball.com.  He was named a New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA)/ABCA and D3Baseball.com First Team All-Region selection and was also named the NEIBA/ABCA Player of the Year.

In his four seasons at UMass Boston, Herzog led the Beacons to a combined record of 108-52 (46-13 Little East Conference).  He was also a member of four Beacons teams that recorded 30 or more wins including a program record 38 in the 2017 season.  As a member of the 2019 team, Herzog and the Beacons earned the program's first ever wins at the College World Series, and fell just one game shy of competing in the National Championship series.

As a player, Herzog ended his career the all-time leader in games played with 188 and triples with 15, while also finishing in the top-10 in at-bats with 596, runs scored with 137, hits with 184, runs batted in with 141, doubles with 31, home runs with 14, total bases with 287, walks with 68 and stolen bases with 54.
