Policy Competition Season vs Non-competition Season 
Non-Competition Season  
  • The Sports Medicine Services (sports medicine room and training oversight) for non-traditional/non-competition season practices will be available between 8am and 6pm. Any practices for non-traditional/non-competitive seasons, the head coach will be responsible for getting approval by sport administrator and must know that there will not be training room services or coverage for that practice.  Spring non-traditional fall season sports (Lacrosse, Baseball, Softball) should be concluded by October 15th (latest start of winter season sports) for training room coverage.  
  • Fall non-traditional spring season sports (Soccer’s, Volleyball) should start after the conclusion of winter championships.   
  • Non-traditional season (fall/spring sports) scrimmages/exhibitions at home should not occur when there is more than one home contest occurring, without extended approval from the sport administrator and head athletic trainer.  
  • In the event of a change of schedule 72 hours prior to the event, ALL athletic trainers MUST be notified of the change.  
  • All treatments for non-competitive student athletes must communicate with athletic trainers via email, in person or by phone to be provided with the appropriate care during the athletic training room hours.  
Competition Season  
  • In-season competition student-athletes will have priority of treatment 1 hour prior to the start of practice.  
  • In-season competition student-athletes will have priority of treatment 2 hours prior to the start of their games.  
  • All competitive season practice and home competitions will be covered by an athletic trainer. 
  • All competitive season practices must start no earlier than 8 am.  
  • If a day consists of no at-home competitions, all practices must be held within a 10-hour time span.  
  • i.e., first practice starts at 8 am, last practice must conclude by 6 pm.
