Mission Statement: 

The mission of this Athletic Performance program is to provide a safe, fun, and challenging training environment that helps student-athletes maximize their physical and mental potential while helping prepare them for life after sport.

Hours of Operation:

The varsity weight room hours are based on the time of year (summer, fall, winter, & spring) and the student-athletes academic and practice schedule. 

Facility Usage:

The varsity weight room is available to student-athletes who have completed and passed a physical exam through UMB’s Sports Medicine Department along with all other medical proper paperwork. The student-athlete must be cleared by compliance and academically eligible. 

Weightroom Standards: 

  • Be on time 
  • Wear the correct clothing 
    • No clothing (shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, pants, hats, etc.) with logos from other schools or teams. (No other teams…You are a BEACON now). 
    • If this happens send the student-athlete to locker room/bathroom to flip clothing inside out, change shirts or put tape over logo. 
  • Sneakers with laces tied before entering the room OR you can train shoeless 
  • If you train shoeless you are accepting & understanding of the injuries that can happen ex. Dropping weight on foot/toes 
  • No boat shoes, crocs, boots, etc., you must wear training shoes. 
  • No personal items in the weight room 
    • This includes backpacks, coats, headphones, cell phones, etc. 
    • Valuables can be stored in weight room 
  • No Sitting 
  • Spotters must be used when necessary 
  • Collars must be always used 
    • Including warm-up sets 
  • Have PRIDE in the weight room 
    • Clean up after yourself and your teammates 
    • Respect the equipment 
  • Only clean music can be played 
    • You can create a Spotify play list that is clean 
  • NO cell phones in weight room unless they are being stored away 
    • Being caught on your cell phone during a lift is an automatic ejection from the training session 
  • Communication 
    • Email athletic performance coach 

The Athletic Performance staff reserves the right to approve or deny entry into the varsity weight room to any UMB student-athlete, non-student-athlete, or non-athletic staff.
