SPRINGFIELD, MA (April 7, 2026) -- Last Tuesday, the Beacons played against Western New England, and despite a one hour delay due to rain and sleet from earlier in the day, the men's team showed determination and grit across all matches, yet ultimately fell 2-5 to the Golden Bears in a non-conference road matchup.
In doubles play, No. 3 doubles Sam Tavassoli Hojati (Norton, Mass.) /Joseph Malone (South Dennis, Mass.) secured the only win defeating Kyle Poccia / Connor Lord, 7-5. Both No. 1 doubles William Kubinec (East Boston, Mass.) /Thomas Ameral (Ellington, Conn.) and No. 2 doubles Mario Pangione (Carver, Mass.)/Dominik Dwyer (Dedham, Mass.) fell short of a win, losing 5-7 and 4-6, respectively.
In singles play, No. 6 Malone defeated Connor Lord, 6-4, 6-2 securing the first point for the men. The second and final point for the men was won by Dwyer who defeated Colby Esposito, 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 in a three setter. Another notable singles play came from Pangione at No.5, who fought through a three setter but despite the strong effort, was defeated by Kyle Poccia, 1-6, 6-4, 3-10.
The Beacons return to play on April 11th at 1:00 PM when they face off against Salem State University in Boston, MA.
