MILTON, Mass. (Nov. 3, 2026) -- Junior goalkeeper Veronika Hadamovsky (Prague, Czech Republic) stopped nine of 10 shots she faced, but UMass Boston (0-1-0) dropped its season opener to Curry College (2-0-0), 1-0, on Tuesday at Milton, Mass., as a second-period goal proved to be the difference.
Hadamovsky played 59:11 in net, allowing only the one second-period goal in a performance that kept the Beacons within striking distance throughout. Senior Maggie Lynch (Quincy, Mass.) led UMass Boston with four shots on goal and won 14 of 21 faceoffs. Junior Cassidy Morrison (Fairbanks, Alaska) also put four shots on goal.
The first period was scoreless as UMass Boston generated early pressure, putting six shots on goal to Curry's one. The Beacons controlled possession and won the majority of their faceoff battles, but Curry's goaltending held firm.
Curry broke the deadlock in the second period when Hansen scored off a feed from Alaina Holmes to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. UMass Boston responded with nine shots in the period and drew two power plays, but went 0-for-2 with the man advantage in the frame. Curry also killed off both of their own penalties without allowing a goal.
The Beacons came out with urgency in the third period, outshooting Curry 12-4 and drawing three more power plays. Junior Grace Lynch (West Roxbury, Mass.) put three shots on goal in the final frame, and first-year Cianna Ho-Kuang (Richmond, BC) added three shots of her own across the game in an active collegiate debut. Despite going 0-for-5 on the power play for the night, UMass Boston finished with a commanding 27-10 shot advantage and won 29 of 55 faceoffs.
