WESTFIELD, Mass. (Oct. 14, 2026) — The UMass Boston Beacons (5-4-4, 4-0-1 LEC) battled to a 0-0 draw at Westfield State University (5-4-5, 3-0-2 MASCAC) on Wednesday, with both goalkeepers turning away seven shots apiece in a hard-fought defensive stalemate.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Beacons came out of the gates facing pressure, as Westfield State outshot UMass Boston 12-8 in the first half and earned five of their seven corner kicks before the break.
UMass Boston responded with a surge of their own in the second half, flipping the script and outshooting the visitors 13-6 after halftime.
Despite the sustained pressure, neither side could find the back of the net, and the Beacons' final chance came in the 90th minute when first-year forward Avery Brooks (Superior, Colo.) tested Westfield State goalkeeper Mady Harmon, only to be denied on what would be the last shot of the match.
Sophomore goalkeeper Leah Skorodumova (Ashland, Mass.) was equal to every challenge Westfield State presented, making all seven of her saves to preserve the clean sheet and earn the Beacons a point on the road.
The shutout extended UMass Boston's remarkable run without conceding, as the Beacons have not allowed a goal in 481:59 of action dating back to Sept. 22.
Sophomore forward Sasha Wood (District of Columbia, Md.) led all UMass Boston players with four shots in her 52 minutes on the pitch. Brooks was the Beacons' most dangerous threat on target, logging three shots and a team-high two on goal in just 33 minutes off the bench. Junior forward Brookelynn Pagach (Hinsdale, N.H.) added three shots and one on goal in her 36 minutes, contributing to the relentless second-half push.
UMass Boston finished the contest with 21 total shots to Westfield State's 18, and both sides ended with seven shots on goal. The Beacons committed six fouls on the afternoon and kept a clean disciplinary record, while Westfield State's Julia Dromerhauser received the match's only yellow card in the 75th minute.
