Rutland, Vermont (January 31, 2026) — The UMass Boston men's ice hockey team earned an important three points in LEC play with a 4–1 road victory over the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans on Saturday night.
The Beacons opened the scoring on their lone power-play opportunity of the game when Jazz Krivtsov found the back of the net at 8:02 of the first period, assisted by Jude Kurtas and Tyler Drummond. Less than five minutes later, Dylan Robbins doubled the lead with help from Michael Lynch and Jack Ford.
Castleton capitalized on its third power-play chance to cut the deficit to 2–1, but UMass Boston quickly regained control. Jakob Teply scored with an assist from Zander Lizotte, sending the Beacons into the third with a two-goal advantage.
Jude Kurtas sealed the win with an unassisted empty-net goal in the final period, giving the Beacons the 4–1 victory.
Sophomore goaltender Connor McDonough was outstanding, finishing with 41 saves, including 24 during a scoreless third period. Colin Richard led the Beacons at the faceoff dot, winning 10 draws, while Jack Mortson paced the team with three blocked shots.
