Bosch Earns Friday Night Shutout in 1–0 Victory Over Pilgrims

BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Boston women's ice hockey team (6-2-1, 4-2-0 LEC) delivered a dominant defensive performance on Friday night, defeating New England College (3-6-0, 2-4-0 LEC) 1–0 at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink. The Beacons held the Pilgrims to just 12 shots on goal, as senior netminder Leah Bosch (Minnetonka, Minn.) earned her third shutout in five games played this season.

A quiet opening frame saw UMass Boston control possession and outshot New England College 13–5 heading into the first intermission. The Beacons ramped up the pressure in the second, outshooting the Pilgrims 25–1 in the period.

UMass Boston broke through at the 10:58 mark of the second period when Maggie Lynch (Quincy, Mass.) netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season, finishing a setup from Shea Nolan (Quincy, Mass.).

Lynch's tally proved to be all the scoring the Beacons needed, as a disciplined defensive effort and Bosch's steady play in goal kept the Pilgrims off the board for the remainder of the night, securing the Friday night home win for UMass Boston.

The Beacons return to action on Saturday, December 6, when they travel to Amherst, Mass. for a non-conference matchup with Amherst College at 7:00 p.m.
