BRUNSWICK, ME (November 21, 2025) — Powered by a 31-point performance from reigning Little East Conference Player of the Week Cameron Perkins (Danbury, Conn.), the UMass Boston men's basketball team (1–4) went toe-to-toe with Bowdoin College (3–1) in a tightly contested nonconference matchup Friday night.
Perkins got off to a strong start as the Beacons built an early lead, but Bowdoin erased the deficit, tying the game at 13 with under 12 minutes remaining in the first half. The Polar Bears followed with a 13–2 run to create separation. UMass Boston battled back and closed the half trailing by just four. Perkins and sophomore Raphel Laurent (Peabody, Mass.) combined for 20 of the team's 31 first-half points.
The Beacons matched Bowdoin point for point in the second half, scoring 58 points on 56.3 percent shooting (18-32), including five three-pointers at a 50 percent clip, and 17 made free throws. However, Bowdoin's early momentum proved enough to hold off the Beacons down the stretch.
Perkins' 31-point effort was complemented by a career-high 21 points from sophomore guard Davon Sanders (Mansfield, Mass.), who shot 7-of-8 from the field while adding a three-pointer and six free throws. Junior forward Skyler Venezia (North Haledon, N.J.) also recorded a career-high at UMass Boston, scoring 18 points with three three-pointers and a 7-for-10 performance from the free-throw line.
The Beacons return home on Tuesday, November 25 at 7:00 p.m. to face Wheaton College in Clark Gymnasium.
