Weymouth, Mass. (Oct. 21, 2025) --- The UMass Boston Beacons are moving on to the semi-finals of the Little East Conference (LEC) playoffs after a commanding 4-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in the quarterfinals.
The Beacons set the tone early with dominant doubles play. The No. 3 duo of Karina Khalsa and Maya Rubinstein rolled to a 6-0 win, while No. 2 doubles partners Zainab Patel and Shreya Saravana Rakshana secured the team's doubles point with a 6-2 victory.
The momentum carried into singles play. At No. 5 singles, Rubinstein continued her strong day with a 6-0, 6-2 win. No. 1 singles player Zainab Patel followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Abby Emerson, and No. 4 singles player Shreya Saravana Rakshana clinched the match for the Beacons by defeating Hanni Johnson, 6-0, 6-4.
With the 4-0 sweep, UMass Boston continues its pursuit of the conference title. The Beacons will face Bridgewater State University in the semi-finals on Wednesday, October 23rd in Bridgewater, Mass., with play set to begin at 3 PM.
