Boston, MA (Jan. 3, 2025) --- The UMass Boston Beacons, led by Jazz Krivtsov, had an offensive explosion to start the year defeating the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth 5-2. With the win the Beacons propel themselves to the championship game of the 59th Annual Codfish Bowl taking place January 4th at 4pm.
How it Happened
Krivtsov wasted little time getting on the board, scoring just under 3 minutes into the game and then doubling the score – and Beacons lead – before the 6-minute mark. The Corsairs woke up shortly after the Beacons second goal when Tyler Stewart scored unassisted. Stewart would then start the 2nd period with another Corsairs goal to draw the two teams' level. Just before the whistle blew to end the 2nd, Jack Mortson lifted the Beacons back into the lead, assisted by Jakob Teply and Chris Repmann. The third goal would be the subsequent game winner, but it wouldn't be the last scored by the Beacons. Krivtsov completed his hat trick early in the 3rd period and Ty Mathews scored his first of the year on the empty net.
