BOSTON, MA. (January 28, 2025) – Following a three-game road trip for the UMass Boston men's basketball team, the Beacons (9-8, 4-5 Little East Conference) will return to the Clark Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 28, to continue the LEC regular season against the Wolves of Western Connecticut State University (10-8, 6-3 LEC) at 7:00 p.m.

Cameron Perkins (Danbury, Conn.) hit a step-back buzzer-beating corner three to win the game with time expiring. December's victory over the Wolves was the team's first win over WestConn since 2021 when the Beacons protected home court in a 69-63 dogfight.
- The Beacons have won their previous two matchups against the Vermont State University Castleton Spartans (89-84 OT), and the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors (70-62). As a unit, UMass Boston scores 77.4 points per game and averages 37.1 rebounds, 12.3 assists, 9.5 steals, and 3.6 blocks per game. Senior Emanuel Zayas (Hollywood, Fla.) is averaging 20.8 points per contest in his previous five games, including 57 points in the last two games (28.5 PPG). First-year Raphel Laurent (Peabody, Mass.) enters this week as the LEC Rookie of the Week, his third weekly recognition this season, for averaging 16 points, six rebounds, and four steals per game in a 2-0-week last week for the Beacons. Graduate forward Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) has been a jack-of-all-trades and Head Coach Jason Harris' ace up his sleeve this season, leading the team in rebounds behind Perkins and second on the team in assists behind Zayas. In his first game back from Injury on Saturday against the Warriors, Sophomore Xavier McKenzie (Lowell, Mass.) played 23 minutes and contributed seven points, including a late clutch three to keep the Beacons up by four points with under two minutes remaining. McKenzie averaged 17.1 PPG before his injury as one of the Beacons' leading scorers.
- The Wolves have also won their previous two matchups against the Plymouth State Panthers (89-65), and the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs (86-74). As a unit, the Wolves score 75.7 PPG led by Jourdan Belcher with 12.1 PPG, and Cameron Gallon with 10.9 PPG. Gallon leads the effort on the glass with 5.7 rebounds per game.
