Boston, MA (Sep. 24, 2024) --- The Beacons of UMass Boston will be taking on the Monks of Saint Joseph's College of Maine Wednesday at 6pm in the Clark Athletics Center Gymnasium for their Pride Match. 

The Basics

• Saint Joseph's College of Maine: 4-8 Overall, 1-0 Conference (GNAC)

• Picked to finish fourth in LEC Preseason Coaches' Poll 

• Paige Coulson leads the team in kills with 90 and is second in efficiency scoring 2.71 PTS/S. Toni Guerra leads the team in service aces with 21 and four other Beacons have registered 10 or more service aces this season. Defensively, Mikayla Cleary and Addie Blomgren have been a force with 17 and 16 blocks respectively. Coulson is close behind with 14 blocks so far this season. Mary Matthews has been busy as well with 160 digs so far this season, averaging 3.72 Dig/S.  

Saint Joseph's College of Maine 

• Started their season 1-7 

• 3-1 in their last 4 games 

• Predicted to finish 6th in the 2024 GNAC Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll 

• Maggie Sylvester leads the team in kills with 52 while Victoria Briones leads in efficiency with 3.27 PTS/S. Jessica Christman leads the team in service aces with 17 on the season. On the defensive end Regan Noonan leads the team in blocks with 28 (.85 BLK/S). 

Series History 

• Last meeting came in 2023 where the Beacons won in straight sets. Lauren Westlund led the team in kills with 10 followed by Coulson with 8. 

• The only other meeting was in 2009, the Beacons also won that game 3-0.
