Women’s Soccer Opens Little East Conference Play on the Road

BOSTON, MA (September 20, 2024) - -The UMass Boston women's soccer team will travel to Plymouth, N.H on Saturday for the first Little East Conference (LEC) opponent of the season, the Plymouth State Panthers from Panther Field.
Previously
  • The Panthers and the Beacons first kicked off against each other in the fall of 1995, where the Panthers won 7-0. Since then, the programs have met a total of 29 times. In those 29 matchups, the Beacons have accrued a 12-15-2 record against Plymouth State. The most recent matchup resulted in the Beacons picking up a 2-1 win from the James Cotter Field last season. The Beacons average 1.52 goals against the Panthers and have scored a total of 44 times over nearly a 30-year span.
This Season
  • The Beacons started this season on a five-game unbeaten streak, with their most recent victory coming over the Curry College Colonels from the James Cotter Field on September 18. First-year Kathryn Brown (Somers, Conn.) leads all Beacons' goal scorers with three goals, one against Smith in the season opener, against Westfield State, and against Curry College. Junior midfielder Andrea Rivera (San Juan, P.R.) is just behind her with two season goals, one against Russel Sage, and again against Westfield State. First-year Sofia Schallmo (Norwood, Mass.) has stepped into the primary playmaker role, providing three assists to go with one season goal.
  • The Panthers have started the 2024 campaign 3-2, and average 3.4 goals per game. The Panthers opened their year with a dominant 7-0 showing vs New England College, and again with a 6-0 victory over Rivier. Their two losses came at the hands of Nichols College (Final: 2-4), and Wellesley College (Final: 0-2). Sophomore forward, #2 Ella Fraser has tallied six goals in only five starts on 13 shots on target. She scored her first two against New England College, and netted four against Rivier. Junior forward #22 Molly Bellmore has also been a key piece for the Panthers' offense, tallying a triad of goals and assists for nine season points thus far. She scored a goal in her first three games against N.E.C, Rivier, and Nichols.
