Women’s Soccer Heads South for Road Game vs Roger Williams

BOSTON, MA (September 16, 2024) – The UMass Boston women's soccer team will travel to Bayside Field in Newport, R.I on Monday for a non-conference matchup against the Roger Williams University Hawks

Previously
  • The Hawks and the Beacons have a short history of just two games over five years. The Hawks took both matchups, with their most recent victory over the Beacons coming last year in a 1-3 loss from the James Cotter Field. Kaylee Haynes ('2024) is the only Beacon to register a goal against the Hawks.
This Season
  • The Beacons have progressed steadily as the season advances. Five games in, and UMass Boston has yet to concede a loss. The Beacons picked up their first two wins of the season against Smith College and the United States Coast Guard Academy and most recently picked up a 2-1 victory over the Westfield State Owls. Goal-scoring production has come from two primary offensive weapons, first in junior midfielder Andrea Rivera (San Juan, P.R), who has scored twice on nine shots on target. Additionally, first-year forward Kathryn Brown has also tallied two goals in the early embers of the season, scoring once in the home opener against Smith College and again in the program's first win over the Westfield State Owls.
  • The Hawks have started their season a strong 4-2, with wins over Framingham State, Salve Regina, Anna Maria, and Little East Conference counterparts UMass Dartmouth. Their only losses came from the hands of Worcester Polytechnical Institute (WPI) and Wheaton. Roger Williams has tallied ten different goal-scorers in those stretches of games. The most dangerous of them is senior midfielder Rachel Oster, who has tallied two different hat tricks already against Framingham State and Anna Maria for six season goals. Another key matchup will be sophomore forward Mya D'Antonio, who has tallied three goals on four shots on target in three games played.
