Box Score 2 Boston, MA (Sep. 14, 2024) --- The UMass Boston volleyball team split their home and away games Saturday.
Nichols
Starting the morning the Beacons took on Nichols College at the Clark Athletics Center and swept the Bisons in 3 sets. The Beacons never let the Bisons get a strong foothold, forcing them to hit in the negatives for two of the three sets. The serving game for the Beacs was strong resulting in 12 aces. Leading that category was Mary Matthews with 4 followed by Toni Guerra with 3. Mya Perron led the Beacs in kills with 10.
MIT
After the sweep of Nichols, the Beacons traveled to Cambridge to take on no.10 MIT. MIT started the game on an 8-1 run, but the Beacons did not give up on any set and capitalized late by going on their own runs. Ultimately, no. 10 MIT was able to come away with the home win in 3 sets over the Beacons. Paige Coulson led the Beacons with 7 kills in the match.
